USA, Libya flagsLibyan militiamen occupied the US embassy in the capital Tripoli to 'secure' it, just a month since the US evacuated personnel from the troubled north African country.

The Dawn of Libya militia group stormed the compound on Sunday causing minimal damage, Associated Press reported, but the commander said they had been in control of the compound since last week.

US Ambassador to Libya Safira Deborah on Twitter said a video posted online showing men playing in a pool appeared to have been shot in at the embassy's residential annex.

This was not the first attack at the US embassy in the African capital. The most critical was in 2011, when a groups of rebels stormed the compound following the fall of Moammer Gaddafi's regime and left the US ambassador killed.
